A collection of stories from the humor master of Turkish literature, Aziz Nesin, “Nesin?” was staged on World Theatre Day, March 27th. The president of the Turkish Theatre Club, Burcu Küçükoğlu L11, opened the with a message written by John Malkovich, before saying “Curtain!”

 

In the first episode, Once Upon a Time, What a Change, Waitaminute-What’s up and Twilight were played. The second episode included Opening a Curtain on the West, Goat’s Tail and the Struggle with the Compass, How to Become the Town Captain, Much Conversation, and Ms Sadiye and Fear.

 

The play ran from March 27th-29th. The audience was delighted to watch the actors who, although students, performed like a professional troupe.

 

Aydan Çelik, who allowed one of her drawings to be used for the “Nesin?” poster, came to the March 29th performance. After the performance, the students invited him on stage and thanked him. Also on stage after the performance were Make-up Club advisor Irem Eren, the Make-up Club student members, play photographer Meriç Arda Eren L11, musician for the play Alperen Elibol L9, backstage managers Doruk Başkan L10 and Atalay Onay L10, lighting managers Onur Cengiz L10 and Mina Meriç L9, and Assistant Directors Fatma Başak Çakmak L11 and Feyme Zafer L10. The Turkish Theatre Club, who put on the performance, also invited teachers Eda Yurdakul, Gül Soydan Koç and actor Murat Ersan to the stage and the entire troupe and audience gave them a standing ovation. This year was the final year that L11 students Burcu Küçükoğlu, Görkem Örskıran, Ece Nokay, Burak Ünsal, Şahide Nur İpek Melez and Aysel Kapsız, will be in the Turkish Theatre Club, and as a thank-you gift the teachers gave them each photos and scripts of all the roles they had played.
