Physical Education is a required course for all students. Classes meet for a double lesson once a week. Every year group has a program of study that is broken down into six units per year. A unit of work lasts for five weeks. One of the main goals in each unit is to present the material in such a way so as to enhance enjoyment, self-motivation and active participation. The underlying aim being that students will come to see her/his own health and fitness as an integral part of their being and that maintaining an active lifestyle will remain so through their adult lives.
In Lise Prep emphasis is placed upon building self-confidence and positive attitudes towards physical activity and fitness. Activities include soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis and floor hockey. Students revisit various sports as they progress through the school, but may also have opportunities to try other physical activities such as ultimate frisbee, table tennis, badminton, American flag football, dance, fitness training, handball and ‘alternatif’. In Lise 12 students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own program of study. Emphasis moves away from skill acquisition and more towards level and intensity of participation.
