Claims to be "the largest human-edited directory on the web" and they may be right. It's certainly worth exploring. Sites are suggested by the general public and the editors are volunteers, so there may be inconsistencies or links to less worthy sites - but there's gold there too!
- FirstGov
The official U.S. Government portal, search anything, check out the latest news, government actions, and follow links to the White House, the State Department, and other Federal Agencies. The site also features a topical index.

One of the originals, but in terms of hits it comes up with reliable, relevant suggestions.
